Being high fired clay, turface has the ability to be very lightweight and also fast drying due to its texture. Mainly used as either a top dressing or traditionally as a soil amendment, its purpose is to reduce the compaction and increase the aeration similar to perlite and pumice amendments. With a neutral PH, It has the ability to help reduce the amount of leaching of nutrients in the soil, increase air porosity and water circulation. This particular calcined clay is also great when watering, as it does not particularly float to the top due to its weight as opposed to other amendments such as perlite.

The Samakami cactus blend is a mixture of a few different soil amendments that have always been changed throughout the years. As a hobby grower, finding the perfect mixture has been a constant battle of trial and error.

The blend is a hybrid, a mixture that was created to best suit most cacti growers, with the basics of increased drainage, high ariation, and easy-to-use properties. This soil is designed to be used straight out of the bag, for any cactus or succulent. This mix is a great replacement for those big box store blends, providing a higher-end growing medium for hobbyists to use.
