To Plant a Garden
is to Believe in Tomorrow
The beginnings of Samakami took place walking into my first garden center at the age of 10, 2012. Discovering cacti and the wonders of growing tropicals allowed the unique opportunity to care for another living being. Starting as an indoor hobby the collection grew larger, buying racks and shelves, it quickly became an addiction. Immersing myself into the wonders of the plant world I started to want more and more rare plants, specimens of which where not available at local garden centers. And so, the journey began.
Three years into collecting I started to travel more and more, asking my parents to drive me hours to buy plants from other collectors and unique specialty nurseries. It reached a point where not only the house started to become a jungle but there was not any plant that I did not have. In 2016, with the support of my family and friends, we decided to build a greenhouse that could house all the unique specimens in the backyard. Having the larger space opened the door to being able to collect even larger plants.
In 2017, the collection was reborn as Samakami. A name which represents my own roots as well as the primary goal of this endeavour, true harmony through conservation and education. Focusing on specialty plants, both rare and exotic, I wanted to show the world what this hobby was really about. Running shows and events, my focus was to display the collection in which plants came from all parts of the world. I hope to expand Samakami’s size both in plants and the outreach we can make in the community. It has been a key part of my life, teaching me as I grow older, develop, and change one step at a time. I hope to share this journey with you.

Growing Together
Samakami is a firm believer in community outreach and advocacy, focused on providing trusted sources for plant necessities and promoting other private collections. Below are various nurseries that the collection has had the pleasure of working with. I’m hopeful that other individuals in the community may also benefit from knowing them as well.
